Back Again

Hello! So much went on this summer and I was very bad at posting anything to my blog. So sorry for the time lapse. But now things have slowed down somewhat and I'll make posting a priority.

So we have some catching up to do...

Over the summer I started a personal project where I created a series of four posters focusing on cities and states that I love. It's turned  into an ongoing process and I'm debating whether to refocus it to be a series of 52 posters featuring each of the states plus Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands or just city and states that I've visited and have special meaning to me.

So far I've finished Minnesota, Lake Minnetonka (located just a few miles from the studio), Florida and Palm Springs.

It was challenging and fun to create all of the vintage-style ephemera and maps. Research for the posters was equally as fun, with many evenings pursuing though Pinterest and doing Google searches.

Winter Patterns

Illustrations ©2016 Carta Bella Paper Company

The lake House Studio is the ideal place to create a Winter paper line. Winter starts late November here in Minnesota and can go into mid-Aril. Scandinavian patterns are seen all over the city. The studio is located on the edge of the forest where red robins nest and play in the birch trees. So coming up with inspiration for these illustrations was as easy as taking a walk around the neighborhood.

Minnesota's In The House!

I was contacted by the Rotary Club of Minneapolis to donate a piece of artwork of mine to be used in their annual silent auction. I decided to create a custom poster for the donation that showcases vintage Minnesota.

To create this collage I used some of my previous work and added in a few new illustrations. I really like how this piece turned out and I will be producing it later this year to be sold in a series of my illustrations titled "Up North".
